‘Attacked’ Street Dog Gets Second Chance After Rescue and Is ‘Softest and Most Gentle Soul’

Niall Harbison continues to work miracles with street dogs through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. He was recently called in to help a sweet canine, who was severely injured after an attack by a pack of dogs. The animal advocate named her Velvet as a promise of hope for the precious pooch.

In the Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo, Harbison explained how he received a call about a dog in need of immediate medical attention.

“She’d been attacked by a pack of dogs,” the onscreen text read as Velvet lay on the ground covered in puncture wounds and whimpering. Harbison was able to gently lift her up and take her to his medical clinic at the Happy Doggo sanctuary.

“We rushed her in… and got her treatment, where she needed over 30 stitches as well as extensive wound cleaning and a very late night for the medical team,” the caption from a separate post shared. “We also found she was covered with ticks and fleas that were eating her skin to bits.”

Velvet Is on the Mend

Harbison gave her the name of a plush and luxurious material to give her hope for the future.

“Because of how rough and broken her skin was, I called her Velvet,” he explained. “Because one day soon, I whispered to her in the truck, her skin will be like velvet.”

Velvet received treatment and medication, and is now recovering with Harbison and his team. The Happy Doggo founder already feels protective of the sweet dog and is committed to walking her through the healing process every step of the way.

“She is the softest and most gentle soul you could ever meet,” he noted in the caption. “The thought of her getting attacked and shredded really breaks our hearts. But the lovely Velvet is safe now.”
