As a pet parent, it’s only natural to get secondhand embarrassment from your fur baby when they start acting out in public. Sure, they’re adorable little angels (most of the time), but every now and then that sweet little furball decides to terrorize passersby or get a little too excited and do something completely unhinged that you’re left having to apologize for until the end of time. Pets can be unpredictable, and although it might be easy for us as their caretakers to write off their behavior, others might not be so forgiving.
What’s it to us if Princess decides to eat tissue out of the trashcan or Spot nibbles on the couch? Once they activate those puppy dog eyes, we can’t even remember what they did wrong anyway. But if Toto decides to do doughnuts in the neighbor’s yard, it’s kind of hard to dismiss it as just another one of their quirks. That’s where training comes in. Although it won’t stop your pet from being, well, a pet, investing in training can at least prepare your pup to go out into the world without you having to worry about their every move.

And now it’s easier than ever to find the perfect trainer for your favorite four-legged menace, thanks to the world’s largest pet care marketplace, Rover. For the first time in seven years, Rover is adding a new service to its platform, allowing pet parents to book private training sessions with credentialed trainers right in the app. The exciting new feature was initially soft-launched in October 2024 as a beta test, and so far, the brand has added 1,600 credentialed trainers to its roster. More than 6,000 dog parents have booked a training session through the platform.

The Easiest Training Session You’ll Ever Book
Now you can easily compare vetted trainers in your area and sift through a variety of filters, such as years of experience, reviews and ratings, price, and training skills. All trainers on the app have also committed to rewards-based training, provided documentation of dog training credentials and passed a third-party background check, giving you confidence that your pooch is in great hands.
In a press release about the new launch, Scott Lowe, General Manager of Dog Training, said, “After a year of piloting the new service and building a network of qualified trainers, pet parents nationwide can now find the perfect trainer for their dog’s needs.”
So, whether you’ve got a puppy who needs to be potty trained or a cranky senior who could use a refresher, Rover’s got you covered. Maybe now we’ll finally be able to take Milo to the dog park.
