German Shepherds are one of the most popular dog breeds out there, and yet, they’re so underrated. They’re often regarded as being too rowdy or too intimidating, when the fact is that they’re some of the sweetest dogs the world has to offer.

They’re good with kids, too. Recently, a couple of German Shepherds were watching their babysister play with some water. They couldn’t get enough, and to boot, they basically got a free trip to the water park:

‘Absolute Kaos‘ might be their username, but it also accurately describes the state of their lives. There are two German Shepherds in the house: Kaos, for whom the account is named, and Mayhem.

They live in Australia with their parents and now their baby sister. She used to be a lot smaller, which is when they learned to love her. These days, she splashes about in their water fountain!

They Taught the Baby Tricks

Both of them are older than their baby sister by at least a little bit: they were both full-grown when she was born. Pretty much immediately, they started “training” her, and one of the main tricks she learned was “howl.” It didn’t always go well, though:

I have seen this video several times by now, and the way he gives her a kiss afterward always makes my heart melt. Name something more precious than that! Other than howling, she knows how to drop food on the floor without getting caught, and how to splash them so they can get wet without needing a bath.

German Shepherds Make Great Family Dogs

German Shepherds need training and a family who will (mostly) stick to their rules and habits. They’re super smart, so they can quickly figure out the areas you’re lacking in. That’s exactly why they can be so good with kids: they like them!

If you want to get a German Shepherd for your family, though, there are some things you need to know:

• These dogs are loyal and forgiving, but do not like being hit or pulled on.

• You’ll need to establish clear boundaries with your children about the dog.

• They’ll need to have a place to go to get away from the little ones.

As long as their needs are met and you’re always supervising, there’s no reason why a German shepherd couldn’t be an excellent family dog. You can typically find German Shepherds in shelters, too; try checking there first before you go through a breeder!
