Most pets aren’t fans of getting a bath. We’ve all seen the big sad puppy dog eyes of a drenched pup in their family’s tub getting scrubbed clean. The best part of a bath for many pets is when it’s over. Afterall, who doesn’t love a good zoomies session after being freed from the hostage cleaning situation?
Cats, in particular, despise baths more often than not. I’ve never met a cat that willingly allows a soak in the tub. Until now. One disabled cat, Ryder, seems to not just tolerate his bath but actually look forward to his own personal pampering session.
Ryder’s mom recently posted a video of the sweet orange kitty waiting patiently for his foot bath, and it quickly became an internet sensation, with more than 41 million views on TikTok.
On his personal account, @lowryderkitty, Ryder can be seen sitting on the edge of a white sink with his back legs crossed and dangling inside the empty basin. The caption says, “My paralyzed cat Ryder patiently waiting for his foot bath. 🐾 Somehow, he always ends up looking like a little gentleman. 💛 #ParalyzedCat#SpecialNeedsCat#CatCare#CatTok#RescueCat.”
The sweet orange kitty appears perfectly content as he waits, calmly holding his upright posture instead of trying to escape like many cats would during bath time. During the short clip, Ryder tilts his head ever so slightly to the side, as if to say, “Is it time yet?” The gentle routine seems to be a regular part of Ryder’s day—and viewers couldn’t get enough of how patiently he sits for his spa moment.
Ryder Is a Distinguished Gentleman
The adorable moment quickly had viewers flocking to the comments.
One viewer commented on how partaking in the bath routine may be a way for Ryder to show his human family love. “Imagine he doesn’t realize it’s for his sake (because he can’t feel them) and he just thinks that washing his feet makes his owner happy 😭,” they wrote.
Others just couldn’t get over his adorable sitting position or calm demeanor. “He is such a distinguished gentleman…so polite and cute🥰🥰🥰,” one viewer remarked. “What a cutie… he looks like a sweetie🥰,” gushed another. “Not to be dramatic, but I think I’d die for him,” penned yet another mega fan of the sweet feline.

Without the use of his back legs, it is clear that Ryder needs some extra help with his daily routines. But judging by his calm and patient attitude, he seems more than happy to indulge in the occasional foot bath. And judging by the internet’s reaction, plenty of people are rooting for this sweet orange fellow.
