Golden Retriever Ring Bearer Stopping to ‘Say Hi’ to Wedding Guests Is Cuteness Overload

At most weddings, the bride is considered the star of the show. After all, there’s a reason no one else is supposed to show up wearing white!

But unfortunately, it looks like she had to share the spotlight at the wedding in the TikTok video below, where the Golden Retriever who was acting as ring bearer had his own agenda when the time came to walk down the aisle.

As we can see in this video that @furryventures_petcare shared on Tuesday, November 4, this very fluffy ring bearer decided to stop and say hi to his friends on his way to the bride and groom who were waiting at the end of the aisle.

Nobody minded too much, though — at least, not according to everyone around him reacting with complete glee.

And what really matters is that despite all of his excitement, he did make it to the end of the aisle, receiving plenty of pets from his parents (and a round of applause from the wedding guests) when he finally did make it there. What a good boy!

Tips for Including Your Dog as a Ring Bearer

If you’re planning a wedding and want your dog to be involved in the ceremony like this one does, I totally understand — our dogs are a part of our family, so why wouldn’t we want to make sure they’re included in one of the biggest days of our lives?

As long as you know your dog’s personality will lend itself well to a situation like this (an unfamiliar location, lots of people in one place at one time, and following directions to make it to the end of the aisle), having your pup in charge of the rings might end up making one of your favorite memories ever.

On his website, wedding photographer Chris Werner shared a few tips on making sure your dog’s experience as a ring bearer is the best ever:

  • If your dog is going to wear something special (like a doggy tux or a flower crown), it’s a good idea to try it on and let them get comfortable in it before the big day

  • Practice the commands they’ll need to know, and practice walking down the aisle

  • Bring someone to help with the dog. After the ceremony, the dog may need to go somewhere special at the venue, or be brought back home, and if you’re the one getting married, you won’t have time to handle those logistics yourself!

  • Bring plenty of treats to keep your dog motivated on their journey down the aisle

  • Make sure the rings are very secure (or consider hanging onto them yourself if you can’t guarantee they won’t get lost along the way)

Considering how special weddings can be with dogs as a part of the fun, I’m sending you all the good vibes for your wedding day. Just don’t be surprised if your pup ends up totally stealing the show!
