Hiking with dogs can be peaceful and scenic, but not all pups enjoy this type of strenuous activity or exercise outside, or with too much exercise. This little Dachshund apparently believes the experience requires constant commentary, but only in very specific situations in which several things must align for her to lose control.
In this video, the little Dachshund makes the funniest dramatic noises that make it sound like she’s filing a very formal complaint about the hike, even though she’s the one getting chauffeured the whole time. The exaggerated protest somehow makes the entire moment even funnier. Take a look!
On March 6, @minidoxolive shared a video of Olive, the little Miniature Dachshund, who was having a very interesting day outside, and the whole event unfolded in a way she was not at all expecting.
Olive was going for a walk with her parents, who thought the day was perfect for a hike. She’s very likely done this before with her mom and dad, but she’s trying something new lately, and her parents aren’t sure what to make of it. She has zero worries.

And while she’s never really been one to bark or chat too much, there’s something about when she’s on a hike with her parents, and she can’t see her big dog brother, Lyndon, anymore, it’s time to protest.
In the comments, people had a lot to say about Olive’s big voice and how normal all that barking is on a hike.
One person wrote, “Only in very extreme cases, like a leaf existing outside.”
Another shared, “Normal? Who knows? Common for Dachshunds? Absolutely.”
Someone else added, “Yeah, normal [because] Dachshunds aren’t normal.”
Other comments included, “That’s a seagull, I think,” “She’s outside. Of course it’s normal,” “They are never calm, hope this helps,” and “Mine react like this when they see bunnies.”

Dachshunds Are Known for Being Very Chatty
Olive has a lot to say while she’s on her hike, and it’s really funny since her parents say that she “never barks,” but these cute Dachshund dogs are known for being chatty pups.
The American Kennel Club lists the Dachshund as being at the top end of the “barking level,” landing at “very vocal.” When they have a lot to say, they’re not afraid to share, and that goes well with their sweet personalities, too.
The club explains that the Dachshund has a “vivacious personality” and that’s made them one of the favorites for people who love adventure and want a pup with a “big-dog bark.” These dogs may be small, but they’re “tireless hounds” who are good at doing anything from hunting to playtime. They’re very smart, and they make great watchdogs because they’re fearless and loud.
All this definitely tracks with how Olive shows herself in this clip. She seems like the sweetest pup ever.
