Herding dog breeds like border collies, German shepherds and cattle dogs are known for their ability to herd other animals, including humans. These dogs are worker dogs, and they love their jobs. However, not every herding dog lives on a farm where they can herd farm animals all day; some live in the city. While they might not be able to herd other animals, they do tend to settle into their routines, as long as they get those extra active moments. Just because these herding dogs don’t live out in the country and herd sheep all day, that doesn’t mean their natural herding instinct is gone.
As one dog mom learned, her border collie may not have any sheep to herd, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t herding something, or someone.

The short clip featured one adorable and suspicious border collie, Auzzy, who may or may not have found their next sheep to herd. Unfortunately for Auzzy’s mom, that sheep is her. However, this isn’t just another herding moment; Auzzy takes their job very seriously. With only one eye open, Auzzy intensely stares at their dog mom, just waiting for the moment to spring into action. While normally capturing the attention of any dog is a sweet moment, Auzzy’s one-eyed stare is more on the threatening side than anything else.
Many in the comment section couldn’t resist the jokes, with users calling out that he may not be working but rather judging. “Does your dog bite? Worse, he judges you,” added one viewer. Another user commented, “I wonder what is like. He probably never seen a sheep, but his mind knows he has to do some job and something is very very wrong.”
Instinctively, Auzzy knows he has a job, though he might be a bit confused about what that job is; we can’t help but laugh at the very judgmental-looking expression. As another user put it, “He’s already mentally mapping out how to herd you … in his sleep.”
While Auzzy still tries to figure out how to herd his mom, we can’t help but try to avoid eye contact with this adorable border collie.
