Can Golden Retrievers eat plain hamburgers?
According to the American Kennel Club, dogs can eat a plain, unseasoned patty, but it’s important to make sure there’s no additional seasoning or other ingredients on it.
Some burger toppings, like onions and garlic, can be dangerous to dogs and some may even cause “unpleasant digestive upset at best and pancreatitis at worst.”
The American Kennel Club also confirmed that a plain, unseasoned, and fully cooked meat patty can be “a healthy source of protein in addition to your dog’s regular, balanced diet.” But before feeding your dog a burger patty, they recommend “cutting the meat into bite-sized pieces to prevent choking hazards.”
