Lion Cub Enrichment Activity Expectation vs. Reality Video Has Us Laughing

Not everything lives up to our expectations. But in one expectation vs. reality video, the end result is somehow better. The clips first gives us what the lion cub enrichment activities should look like.

These little guys at the Fort Worth Zoo lick their frozen treats in slow motion while lying down calmly next to each other. Then we get reality. In this version, the baby kitties pounce, posture, and play with their food. The music truly sets the scene for it.

“Cubs: first they’re calm, then they’re chaotic!” the caption accurately captures the vibe. This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten excellent cub content from the Fort Worth Zoo. Another recent video shows them happily messing around with a tree. They take turns gnawing and pawing at the branches. The zoo captions it, “We pinky promise this is the cutest thing you’ve seen all day!” Correct!

The comments really had us laughing. “The tree was asking for it! It wouldn’t leaf them alone,” @jealoussin quipped. @Avery took a different angle, “Waiting for Imara to drop the glam.” She is effortlessly perfect in every video. Read on for more details about the twin cubs!

About the lions of the Fort Worth Zoo

The two littlest cubs at the Fort Worth Zoo haven’t even celebrated their first birthday, but it seems they’re already up to no good. Imara and Tamu were born last June, the success of a breeding program that helps maintain genetic diversity. Their parents, mother Saba and father Jabulani, came to the States from South Africa as part of this mission.

Together with their brother Moja they live in a newly renovated Predators of Asia & Africa exhibit area. The zoo explains, “Their new space is nearly five times larger than the previous one and features a state-of-the-art barn along with additional behind-the-scenes yards. These expanded areas support a growing pride, providing dedicated spaces for mothers and cubs to bond and for gradual introductions to the rest of the pride when the time is right.” We love watching them grow up in their amazing new home.
