April 1 (UPI) — Animal rescuers in Iowa shared a photo of an orphaned baby chick being comforted by its new surrogate mother — a feather duster.
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa said on social media that the baby chick was brought in by someone who found it wandering alone by the Saylorville Dam.
The chick was taken to ARL’s Second Chance Ranch, where the care team set about making it comfortable.

“We set them up in an enclosure with heat lamps and feather dusters to mimic a mama hen, then placed them under the feather dusters. They caught on right away, snuggling in under their ‘mom’ to get warm,” the post said.
