Even though cats and dogs have a reputation for being antagonistic with one another, there are plenty of occasions where they get along swimmingly. In fact, sometimes these animals will have a very special dynamic and bond with each other. Just take Maloo, the massive Maine Coon Cat, and the tiny Dachshund puppies he watches over, for instance.
They may be two different species, but based on how they cuddle with each other, not to mention how similar their coats are, one might be forgiven for mistaking them for family. Other than the completely different vibes that they each give off, they just look so similar.
According to this video, Maloo has taken on the role of eccentric for these precious Dachshund puppies: “We often call Maloo ‘the weird uncle.’ He has always loved cuddling up to our puppies and is so loving and nurturing with them. He is the true definition of a gentle giant.”

It’s also just funny to see the contrasting demeanors between Maloo and his tiny Dachshund nephews. While he looks absolutely regal and as serious as can be, these tiny puppies look like a bunch of energetic goofballs, LOL. But no matter how much they wag their tails and climb all over him, Maloo remains as gentle as can be. He truly is a gentle giant!

Viewers on social media had a lot to say about this one. Some social media users joked that Maloo and these precious little pups were clearly related because they look so similar: “Obviously, they are related; they even have the same coat! LOL.”
Some viewers on social media remarked that Maloo’s breed is well-suited to taking care of tiny puppies because of their regal, stoic nature: “If ever there was a cat for this job, Maine Coon is the one!” While other people on social media commented that this video is exactly the type of content they need right now: “This is the serotonin/dopamine dose I needed to start my day with, LOL!”
Some people even shared their own experiences of watching a Maine Coon Cat take on a parental type role: “So cute! Our male Maine Coon was the best uncle to our new kitties. He was a natural caregiver to them and cuddled and cleaned them. He has such a lovely demeanor!”
With some viewers on social media joking that these puppies like hanging out with Maloo because he tells them the best stories: “Clearly, the puppies want to hear Uncle Maloo’s stories from his prime era. And he’s happy to tell them.”
