If you’ve ever tried to contain a group of energetic kittens, you already know it’s less of a plan and more of a temporary illusion.
A popular post on Reddit’s r/aww subreddit shared by user u/JohnTheCatMan1 shows four tiny kittens placed in a bathtub with blankets and a litter box.

The caption reads, “They’ve been placed in temporary containment… after multiple civil infractions!” And honestly, based on their chaotic attempts to escape, the charges seem valid.
Confined Cuteness
The kittens are rescues from Kittens In The Mitten, Inc., a nonprofit based in West Michigan run by John himself.
According to him, the kittens had already destroyed their previous tent enclosure and couldn’t quite be trusted to roam freely without supervision. So, while he set up a new one, they earned themselves a brief stint in the tub (no water included).
Tiny Escape Artists (or At Least Trying to Be)
Inside the bathtub, the kittens are far from defeated. One by one, they try to scale the smooth walls, only to slide back down in the most uncoordinated, adorable way possible.
Meanwhile, one orange kitten—the alleged “ringleader”—seems completely unbothered, happily playing around while the others plot their next move.

The Internet Weighs In
Naturally, the comment section had a field day.
“They’re innocent!!” one person wrote.
John quickly played along, replying, “Ohhhh, I see… so you must be their lawyer, defending the tiny ringleaders of chaos!”
Another commenter joked, “This seems like cruel and un-mew-sual punishmeownt,” to which John responded in full character: “Warden speaking… all punishments here are carefully calibrated… temporary, monitored and just enough to let chaos burn itself out.”
Safety First (Even During ‘Lockup’)
While the setup might look like a joke, there’s actually a practical reason behind it.
Young kittens—especially ones with this much energy—can easily get into trouble if left unsupervised. Until their new play area was ready, the bathtub offered a safe, easy-to-clean and escape-resistant temporary solution.
John also clarified that the kittens were supervised the entire time, and this was simply a short-term solution while setting up their new enclosure.
As he put it, his goal is simple: “protect the kittens, give them love and maybe brighten a day for someone who needs the smile.”
Mission accomplished.
