Have you ever found something unexpected and then, every time you’re in a similar situation, secretly hope you’ll find it again? Sterling, the Golden Retriever, is one lucky pup who remembers exactly where the good snacks are (or were) and has no trouble double-checking the same spot to make sure he hasn’t left a jackpot behind.
A recent TikTok video from @lifewithsterlingnewton gives us a glimpse into Sterling’s thought process during his afternoon walk. Mom shares that the smart pup has to stop at the same tree every time they pass because, “He once found a piece of chicken here, so now he has to check every day in case there’s another one!”
Honestly, if you’ve ever needed proof that dogs never forget where they found a good snack, this is it. Sterling apparently hit the jackpot on a routine walk when he discovered a lone piece of chicken hiding under a bush. From that moment on, it officially became the chicken spot.
Obviously, this was the kind of unexpected win that changed him forever. Now, every time they walk by, he conducts a thorough investigation—sniffing every inch just in case another treat has magically appeared. The Golden Retriever even marks the spot before moving on, just to be safe. Hey, you never know… maybe one day lightning will strike that same spot again!

Followers Always Love Sterling’s Videos
One of the Golden Retriever’s fans joked, “Behold the holy chicken tree!”😅While another suggested Sterling was probably thinking, “Mom, I can still smell it!”😂❤️
This is likely a relatable habit for many household pups! They’re creatures of routine, and when something enjoyable happens, they’re determined not to miss out on the chance for a repeat. Hopefully, Sterling is rewarded for his persistence and stumbles upon another tasty surprise soon!
