Persian Cat’s Sweet Meal With Mom Is Everything

Cats are notoriously independent, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t appreciate some quality time with their humans. In fact, doing something they enjoy together is one surefire way to bond.

That’s exactly what one cat mom did with her Persian cat, Bean—but it’s not the typical bonding activity. They’re shared mealtime more than proves our cats actually do like spending time with us (even if they don’t usually show that!).

The precious throwback video shows Mom and the fluffy kitty on a special dinnertime date at the counter. As Mom takes a bite, so does Bean before looking to her favorite human for reassurance and a look of gratitude. It’s this type of content that makes my heart sing!

The heartwarming dinner date is a good reminder to make our independent fur companions feel special, too. Most of the day, it seems they’d much rather hang out solo, but Bean has inspired me to invite my three cats to a sweet meal of our own.

The affectionate Persian enjoyed the shared meal, and I think it has a little to do with how precious she is. This is one little lovebug who happily takes all of Mom’s hugs and kisses!

Why Cats Like It When We Eat With Them

Experts across the world agree that kitties really do enjoy having us nearby when they eat. The behavior is called “affection eating,” and it gives them that warm, cozy, and protected feeling that strengthens our bonds with them. When they’re eating, their backs are turned, and they’re vulnerable to the world, so having us there to keep watch makes them feel safe.

A dinner date with your cat may even help them decide you’re an official part of the pack, and that’s a highly coveted spot to snag. Considering how finicky and independent many felines can be, this is a huge win! Now, excuse me while I plan a date with my cats that includes all their favorite things!
