Niall Harbison’s Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo, continues to evolve as he saves and rehabilitates street dogs every day. The animal advocate recently added a retirement village for senior dogs to his sanctuary and isn’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Harbison recently shared some wonderful news about Velvet, a sweet Border Collie mix he rescued following an attack by a pack of dogs. The precious pooch recovered at the Happy Doggo sanctuary and is now heading to her forever home.

The Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo showed Velvet’s rescue by Harbison and his team. She was badly injured from the dog attack and needed medical intervention.

“Two months ago, our hearts broke for Velvet,” the caption explained. “We found her covered in puncture wounds after a pack of street dogs targeted her… she’s just too gentle to fight back.”

Velvet’s timid demeanor made her easy prey on the Thailand streets, so Harbison vowed she would never have to return to that dangerous environment.

“Since then, we made her a promise that she’d never go back on the streets again,” the story continued, adding the best news of all. “And after weeks of healing, we finally got to tell her the news… she’s found her forever.”

Velvet Is England-Bound

Harbison approached Velvet with a “You Are Adopted!” sign to kick off the celebration of her forever home. The canine cutie picked up on Harbison’s happy news and wagged her tail with joy.

Velvet was promptly chauffeured to her fun-filled day of sand and sweets to commemorate the special occasion.

“We celebrated with a trip to the beach and her first ever ice cream because she’ll soon be heading to England,” the caption shared, noting that her new home is in Wales.

Harbison never gave up on Velvet and now gets to see her start a brand new chapter filled with the love she deserves.

“Her gentle soul finally led her exactly where she was meant to be,” the onscreen text read as Velvet enjoyed a vanilla ice cream cone, with her tail in nonstop wag mode.

The story concluded with a bright outlook for the precious pooch: “The streets are officially behind you, Velvet.”
