Golden Retriever Is Totally Stumped Over Baby’s Toy and It’s Downright Precious

There’s nothing cuter than dogs and babies together, but adding a toy to the mix can make it even better, or funnier at least. This sweet Golden Retriever, Theo, has just discovered the new baby’s peek-a-boo toy, and he truly has no idea what to make of it. The on-screen text tells us, “POV: your dog hasn’t gotten used to the baby toys quite yet.”

It’s clear Theo doesn’t know whether to play fetch or rip the intruder to shreds. As the caption sums up, “Adding peek-a-boo to the list of things Theo doesn’t like.” You got that part right!

Commenters laughed at the hilarity of the dog working out the, uh, eccentric toy. Many got into Theo’s head, “‘Did you see that? Did I just see that?’ – the dog probably” posted @Xiomara. Theo’s human mom responded appropriately with laughing emojis. @Michael took it a step further, “Dog: ‘Ah hell no! Kid, you’re on your own!'” Commenters agreed that the toy gave off solid Chucky vibes. “No that’s creepy I’m with him on that,” @Emily put out there with @Amanda Jimenez adding, “He said ‘This is dangerous! I just can’t prove it lol.'”

Another viewer took it in another direction with, “I love that the dog is more captivated than the baby.” Indeed. Finally, we had someone thinking about the right things, “Imagine that going off at 2am.” This doesn’t bode well for the peek-a-boo toy.

Should dogs play with baby toys?

Well, luckily for Theo, the short answer is no. Most baby toys aren’t built to withstand a dog’s ability to chew, which will almost certainly surpass that of a baby. Many plushies and other toys for babies will instantly turn to shreds when your pup pup gets a hold of them. These stuffies might also contain batteries that could wind up getting bitten open or ingested.

Dog toys, on the other hand, will often be made of rope or another thicker material that’s better suited to our beasties. Some four-legged friends do love stuffed animals, in which case you should probably keep the ones for the kids and the ones for Fido separate. We’re pretty sure Theo will be staying far away from the peek-a-boo toy regardless.
