Rescuing dogs is always going to come with that period of, “I have no idea if this was a good idea or not.” Even if they feel comfortable in your home and they were grateful to be adopted, it will be so insanely tough for them to get used to their new life, at least for a while.

However, there will come a time when you know it was the right choice. At the end of the day, they’re very grateful to have a loving home, and they will adjust. Your patience and kindness only makes it easier for them.
Recently, one ex-street dog had that moment in his forever home. He’d lived his entire life on the streets, and evidently, he’d never felt safe before. He was always looking over his shoulder… Until he wasn’t. We’re so lucky she happened to get the moment on camera:
The Life of Mylo has not been easy, but I hope it’s only easier from here. He deserves a big break, and all of the love in the world! He’s a beautiful dog with adorable teeth, though we’re not told exactly what his breed is. Honestly, his mom probably doesn’t know.
She picked him up in Portugal: she had gone on vacation there and absolutely fallen in love. They live in Germany now, and he’s having the time of his life. He loves to play ball! His teeth stick out just like a cartoon, too: his lower jaw is longer than the top one.

Mylo was living on the streets of Portugal, and he really never had a moment to rest. When you’re on the streets, you have to be looking out for other dogs, humans, and even cars coming at you. Street dogs are often skittish when they get to their forever homes.
Former Street Dogs Need Time
It’s natural, and if you’re patient, it will subside in time. Eventually they’ll realize that they’re safe, and that they have a stable place to live with a roof over their heads. Once they relax, there’s just no going back. Mylo is already loving the indoor life:
I love him. I hope he gets everything he ever dreamed of.
