Miniature Donkey’s Precious Bedtime Routine Brings Total Human Kid Vibes

Well, we didn’t realize until this moment how much we needed a baby mini donkey who thinks he’s a dog. “Pippin’s nighttime routine: bottle & belly rubs!” the caption tells us. This video delivers!

We get to see Pippin with pup pup BFFs getting ready for bed, including drinking out of the cutest baby bottle and getting flipped over for some scratches. It might come as a surprise how adorable a mini donkey can be.

Like us, everyone in the comments was absolutely thrilled to watch Pippin get ready for bed with top poster, @Mary, exclaiming, “I need a house donkey!” Pippin’s pet parent replied, “Yes, you do Mary!” Add that to our list of animal baby must-haves.

While viewers could not get over how cute it was, @mooovin379 got into the mind of the dogs who might have something different to say. “Those dogs don’t agree with this particular schedule. The food. The belly rubs. If I represented the doggo union, I’d have to say, you’re looking at an impending strike by the local doggo work force.”

Finally, @brendabanegaspavl put out there, “I’ll pay you to give Pippin his bottle and belly rubs.” Whatever the offer is, we’ll double it!

Do mini donkeys make good pets?

It should come as no surprise that the answer here is a resounding yes. And we hate to disagree with Shrek, but they can do very well living partially in the house. These guys are actually known for being incredibly laid back and affectionate. As herd animals, they can easily fit in with a pack that includes humans and dogs. However, it’s important not to keep just one donkey on their own, as they need other playmates of the same species.

While it’s adorable to watch Pippin inside, you can’t have them live entirely indoors. Mini donkeys need space, just like their average-sized counterparts. They will also need to go to the bathroom, and you definitely don’t want to spend all day cleaning that out of your home.

Halter Up, a company that makes harnesses for small donkeys and horses explains it this way, “There is a saying in the miniature donkey community, ‘If you have to ask why you have one, then you haven’t met one!” After seeing Pippin, we have to agree.
