Dachshund Is Best Friends With a Hotel Doorman and It’s So Sweet

There is nothing like being a little New York City dog, especially when you are friends with hotel doormen who give you treats.

Case in point with the long-haired blond Obi, the Dachshund, who has become best friends with a hotel doorman.

In a video from the account @obi.ween.nyc, Obi is seen running at full sprint in his bright red sweater to see his doorman friend at his post.

He gets lots of scratches and belly rubs from his human friend and couldn’t be happier.

Obi’s mother captioned the video, “Everyone needs a Doorman Ralph in their life.”

Then the video cuts to different days where the same thing happened with Obi running to see his friend Ralph.

Once again, Obi runs at full sprint to see his friend and get his cuddles, scratches, and belly rubs.

It doesn’t even look like he has befriended the doorman because he gets a treat; he just wants all the love.

It is so sweet!

If you love some good Dachshund in the city content, then this is a great account for you.

Why Do Dogs Befriend Strangers?

It doesn’t happen with every stranger or with every dog, but sometimes a pup will just take a strong liking to a random person they meet in passing or maybe at a store.

So why is this? A lot of it has to do with body language.

Dogs are great readers of body language and can pick up on cues very easily. If a person has warm and open body language, the pooch can see that and may be more likely to embrace it.

A professional dog behaviorist told VetsExplainPets.com, “Dogs are masters at reading body language. They can sense when someone is approachable and friendly, and they respond accordingly. It’s important for strangers to approach dogs in a calm and nonthreatening manner to build trust.”

Dogs are also very good at reading people’s energy. They can tell when a person they walk by has a warm, positive energy and would just love to interact with them in a calm way.

When Obi first walked by Ralph, he could probably sense from both his energy and body language that this could be a great friend.
