The only thing cuter than a Chocolate Labrador puppy is that same puppy learning new tricks. Now, there are some really smart pups out there—some that can jump through hoops or even scale walls. I mean, not in my house, but they’re out there!
One new pup getting attention on Instagram is Mabel, the Chocolate Labrador puppy. She was born in August, and her new parents are starting with some of the basic skills that many humans teach their puppies.
During a recent early-morning training session, the scene is set against a perfect backdrop. Mabel sits sweetly in front of the fireplace, looking so cute and cuddly, but Dad gets straight down to business. He holds out his balled fist, gestures toward the puppy, and says, “Pound it.” This precious girl lifts her tiny puppy paw and does just that.
This wasn’t a high-five or a shake of the paw—it was a deliberate “pound it” from Mabel to her new bestie, Dad, and it was absolutely adorable. Of course, she received a treat for the trick (which we assume is part of the training), but at just 3 months old, this little girl is a total boss in the learning department. She’s getting all A’s for sure!
What Else Can Mabel Do?
Just a few days before this video was posted, @miss_mabel_the_lab and her dad shared another clip showing a different skill she has been working on—going to her “place” (or bed) when told. Naturally, Mabel did exactly as she was told, getting on her doggie bed and waiting for further instruction.
Honestly, Mabel is just so cute figuring it all out. Training is hard work for both the puppy and her new paw parents, but this duo makes it look easy. She’s also sporting some adorable new bandanas, which only add to her overall vibe. Mabel is cuteness overload!
