The parents of a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog, “Franklin”, are planning on expanding their family soon by giving their big boy a little brother or a little sister to grow up right alongside him. I mean, if you already have one, what’s one more, right? They can keep each other amused and busy. They can wrestle and have adventures together. Franklin can mentor the new sibling and teach them all the rules of the house and the manners they need.
In the interim, they’ve decided to help him learn how to be the best sibling possible by giving him a stuffed Berner to practice with, and big brother is taking his job seriously! It looks like he carries his new little “sibling” just about everywhere, even holding him in his mouth just when he’s sitting still! It’s entirely too cute, take a look.
What a sweet dog, and what a great big brother he’ll be one day!
Viewers are looking forward to the new addition. “Omg, a second one!!! Can’t wait to see Franklin with a puppy.” said one while another was already in awe of his brother skill set: “Omg, he loves it.”
Why Bernese Mountain Dogs Are So Naturally Gentle With Other Pets
Bernese Mountain Dogs are known for their calm, relaxed temperament, and that’s one of the reasons they tend to bond so easily and quickly with other animals. They were originally Swiss farm dogs that worked alongside livestock and other dogs all day, every day. Because of this, they were required to be affectionate, good natured, and able to get along well with other pets.
Continually living and working in close proximity to other animals makes them patient and highly social. They tend to love cats, and with appropriate early socialization, they adapt well to having another dog in the home. A sibling helps reduce anxiety, give companionship, provide exercise and socialization, and increase overall happiness.
Franklin’s ready for his little brother or sister, and there’s no doubt he’ll be a great sibling. One day soon, he’ll be frolicking in the backyard with a full-sized Berner that he’s already been practicing raising — into a bond that he’s already started working on long before the new pup even arrived!
