Parrots are not a pet for the faint of heart, but they are a ton of fun. Parrots come in all sorts of sizes and even colors, and to make them even better, they’re some of the sassiest pets money can buy. They have no right to be as goofy as they are!

Among the funniest, yet most challenging are African Grey Parrots. They’re legitimately some of the smartest birds ever, and they love to talk. They’re super sassy, too, and they love trash-talking, using whatever they’re picked up from you.
Sometimes, they don’t even need to talk at all. Instead, they trash-talk each other with looks alone. These two African Grey Parrots, for example, live for trash-talking each other. Their mom can’t get enough, either:
Beakers and Atlas are always trying to get on each others nerves, and trust, it’s definitely working. They’re not necessarily aggressive birds in general: they love their mom, and they’re pretty happy birds. However, when they spot each other? Oh, dear, they’re trash-talking it up.
They have several places to perch throughout the house, because their mom wants to make sure they get plenty of outside time. They get lots of one-on-one time with mom, too, but they do occasionally get to play together.

Kristen’s African Grey Parrots are not the only parrots in her home: she takes in tons of rescues, including these two. They don’t all get along, but they do all get everything they could ever need or want. It’s so sweet, watching them live their best lives!
Beaker and Atlas are amazing, but one of my favorites is Zephyr, a Blue and Gold Macaw. He’s so beautiful:
He loves to fluff up in the morning, as he should. He looks so cute that way!
Parrots Are Re-Homed a Lot
Parrots are some of the best pets, but they can also be some of the most difficult. Unfortunately, that’s not something a lot of people consider. Birds are sold in a lot of stores, and they’re not always sold by people who care a lot about them.
Before you purchase a parrot from a store or a breeder:
-
Check places like Facebook Marketplace. It’s weird, but it’s where a lot of people sell their birds.
-
If your local rescue doesn’t have what you’re after, specialty bird rescues might!
Most parrots will be re-homed at least once in their lives, though some go through multiple homes in their lives. Luckily, it seems like these birds have all found their forevers!
