Abandoned dogs and cats are often found in empty buildings or on the street. Sadly, this abuse of animals still exists today. Thanks to rescue organizations and everyday animal lovers, these precious pooches and felines are often saved and rehomed.
This little Shih-Tzu puppy was recently found on the side of the road in Tennessee and is now getting the help he needs from the stranger who discovered him.
The TikTok from @photogirlnextdoor showed the adorable pup snuggled in a blanket in a large box. The canine cutie kept chewing on the cardboard, almost like he was teething.
“Still no name but he likes to chew and bite,” the caption shared.
Followers chimed in to give their ideas for a moniker, with many advocating for Chewbacca — or Chewy — of Star Wars‘ fame. The furry friend of Han Solo was a large and hairy Wookiee known for his strength, loyalty, and intelligence. The adorable puppy bore quite a resemblance with his extra fluffy brown coat and striking eyes.
Other names tossed around included Teddy, Lucky, Pringle, and Fuzz. Another suggestion from the Star Wars franchise was Ewok, after the small and furry tree-dwelling tribal creatures.
How Is the Puppy Now?
Previous posts explained how the puppy’s rescuer crossed paths with the Shih-Tzu.
“I stopped in Tennessee in this rest stop area, and I see this little something along the side of the road,” the blonde woman explained as she held the tiny pup in her hands. “I was like, oh my gosh, what is that? I thought it was a little rabbit that was injured.”

Apparently, some followers were skeptical of the story and questioned if the puppy had actually been abandoned. The TikTok creator explained how she saw the fur baby sitting on a T-shirt on the side of the road and stopped to investigate. She included a picture of when she first found him.
She posted updates that the puppy was drinking and more alert as time went on, and shared that she would be taking him to the vet for an exam.
A name has yet to be announced, so everyone will have to stay tuned!
