Dogs flock to the kitchen when someone is cooking like moths flocking to a flame. They don’t even care what it is or if they can eat it: they want some. Some people train this kind of instinct out of them, but sometimes they manage to sneak in!

It’s honestly kind of amazing how quickly our well-fed, well-loved dogs can turn into the hungriest, grumpiest dogs ever. If they don’t get what they want, even the most mild-mannered dogs can turn into little monsters.
For one Golden Retriever, though, he’s the politest boy in the world. While his mom had the popcorn maker going, he decided to sit directly in front of it to watch. Maybe if his luck is just right, he’ll get to snag a kernel:
As @kat.chubb says, he’s going to remember this day for the rest of his life. How could he not? There have probably been many times when he’s sat right there and hoped for even a fraction of this! He’s almost definitely been thrown a pity kernel or two, but today, the heavens smiled upon him.

Though his name isn’t shared in any of her TikToks, we do know that he’s a city pup living in an apartment in Minneapolis with his mom. Their apartment overlooks a baseball field, and this beautiful boy loves sitting on the balcony whenever there’s a game!
He’s a regular in several places around his area, including a brewery and a Christmas market. He knows where the best spots for treats are, but none of them can even come close to his mama’s homemade popcorn! When he’s not watching the game, he’s watching the popcorn maker.
On this day, though, the whole thing exploded, sending popcorn flying everywhere! You best bet that he took full advantage, eating as much as he could before his mom could clean it up!
Popcorn Is Safe For Dogs
This Golden Retriever was eating the popcorn fresh out of the popper, before it had been seasoned or buttered. He most likely only had a few pieces, too. Small kernels or un-popped kernels can pose a risk, but fully cooked kernels are just fine.
If you’re going to give your dog a few pieces of popcorn as a treat, just make sure it hasn’t been buttered or seasoned. If your popper requires some kind of oil, choose an oil that’s better for them, like coconut or olive oil. Air-popped is best, though!
