Animals have a way of surprising us in ways we didn’t expect. Even vocal birds, who are capable of saying all kinds of things, might pull something out of nowhere that stops you in your tracks.
This is exactly what RumChata, a Yellow-Naped Parrot, did in a recent video. The already-sweet bird did the most heartwarming thing by greeting a baby bird. This is one feel-good clip you’ll want to replay again and again.

As a big fan of Parrots in general, I often feel like I’ve seen it all. But then @greybirdgames came along and reminded me that I haven’t, and RumChata proves it. Watch as the friendly Parrot says hi to the baby Parrot, and even follows up with, “How are you?”
Little Sangria is so lucky to have such a caring and compassionate friend in RumChata. If you’ll notice, he calls the baby “Paco,” which Mom explained in the comments: “It must have been his name at some point. When he first came home, he didn’t really talk, and we knew nothing about his past, so we named him Rum, and then one day he said, ‘Hi Paco!'”
That makes the already-precious video mean a whole lot more!

“Now I have to go buy one and love on them for life… I was not prepared for this sweetness overload,” one fan confessed. “He even has his little side plumes puffed! I love him so, so much,” another wrote.
Another fun fact about Rum is, as Mom added, “He LOVES babies. And lady birds. He’s quite the playboy for an old man!”
To that point, here’s a previous video showing Rum falling head over heels for Mom’s friend’s Lilac-Crowned Amazon Parrot, Poppy (he just keeps getting better and better!).
Amazon Parrots Have Large Vocabularies
As a smart and cute Parrot, RumChata can learn upward of an estimated 100 to 120 words, which is about half of what an Amazon Parrot can learn. Birds like Rum are praised for having extraordinarily clear vocalizations that sound more like humans than other talking birds.
Though factors like environment, training, and personality come into play, they’re excellent talkers when trained consistently. When it comes to learning how to be sweet and friendly, Sangria has the best role model in RumChata!
