Golden Retrievers are often known for their very gentle temperament and, unsurprisingly, a need to befriend everyone they come into contact with. That is just as true of the humans in their lives as it is of other dogs or small creatures they encounter.
This is even true of little creatures who spend most of their time in the water, like koi fish. When Ace, the Golden Retriever, recently came across a pool of koi fish, he was instantly in love with his new friends and could not help but bond with them in the most golden way possible.
Some dogs would bark. Some would jump into the water and try to catch these koi fish, and others would run around like nut cases while trying to exclaim, “Hey, everyone, look what I found! Look what I found!” That’s other dogs. But that is not Ace, the Golden Retriever.
Ace is a very cool customer. A truly gentle golden. All he did was lie down next to the edge of the water and stick one of his paws in just past the surface.

All the naturally curious koi fish in the pool were like, “Hey, what is that golden, fluffy thing that suddenly appeared in the water? Is that what humans refer to as chicken nuggets? Those certainly look like nuggets.”
One by one, these koi fish went over to Ace’s golden paw and started nibbling to see what it was all about. And Ace? He just watched all of them, ever so gentle, totally cool, and completely enamored with his new koi fish friends.

Viewers on social media were totally inspired by the adorable way Ace befriended these Koi fish. Many social media viewers commented that this video was beyond cute, with some remarking that “OMG, this is iconic!”
Others commented that they were on the verge of experiencing total cuteness overload: “I can’t handle just how cute this video is!”
While others yet extracted an even deeper, life-affirming meaning from Ace’s interaction with these koi fish: “This is how to coexist! We could all learn from this beautiful dog’s example. Why can’t we all be like this dog and these fish?”
