As the holiday season begins again, the Northern Hemisphere begins a quiet descent into winter. Some areas are even beginning to see the season’s first snowfall, but others are still enjoying the final remnants of autumnal joy. For kids across the globe, this time of year is synonymous with leaping into massive piles of leaves, but it turns out that human kids aren’t the only ones who do this.
On November 24, Maryland mom @katehouserpeters noticed the most heartwarming sight outside of her kitchen window—a young deer frolicking in the leaves! The small deer hopped and rolled in the foliage just like Kate’s daughter had done merely hours before, and his proud mom was watching closely nearby. It was exactly like a fairy tale scene come to life!
OMG, that deer knew exactly what to do! The wild animals could have used the leaf pile as bedding or ignored it altogether, but they took a page straight out of Kate’s daughter’s book instead.
“The sweetest thing is that little baby was probably watching your baby from far away and learned that’s what they were supposed to do in the leaves,” commenter @lucyorton3 agreed. That’s very possible!
Other viewers noticed the small nubs on the young deer’s head, which led them to believe this is a mom and her son. Perhaps she was the one watching from afar, and when she saw Kate’s daughter tire herself out, she encouraged the young buck to do the same. Who knew that even deer have life hacks?
Even though this video left others inspired to leave leaf piles in their own yards, it’s worth noting that not all deer will be interested in leaves. However, other wild critters might be!
