Having an animal go missing is every pet parent’s worst nightmare, but for some, it’s also a terrifying reality. Unfortunately, accidents take less than a second to occur, and even the most responsible people can’t prevent them. However, essential tools like microchips and collars with ID tags can make a world of difference.
One relieved couple has a microchip to thank for the return of their beloved tiny Chihuahua, Queenie, after she was spotted sitting alone in the rain in Granbury, Texas. The incredible woman behind @lucky.dogrescue633 didn’t think twice before pulling over to help the scared little dog, even if she growled and even snapped in fear.
The poor little dog looked so afraid, but her rescuer refused to leave without her. She knew that a little patience and bravery would be necessary to capture the scared, lost dog, and in the end, it paid off beautifully.

This commenter is correct—Chihuahuas struggle to regulate their body temperatures because of their tiny size, lack of body fat, and thin coat of fur. If this selfless dog rescuer felt cold while rescuing this baby (especially since she offered up her jacket), this poor pup was even colder.
Luckily, she was quickly taken to Lucky Dog Rescue, where she could be warm and cozy. Because her parents kept her microchip up to date with their contact information, the rescue was able to locate them, and they drove an hour and a half to reunite with their baby. When they finally saw her, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Pass the tissues, please! This tiny dog is loved beyond measure, as every dog should be. Relief doesn’t even begin to describe the emotions Queenie’s parents are feeling, but viewers still have one question: how did she go missing?

As Queenie’s dad explained, Queenie ran off from their motel room while her parents were away. His theory is that a housekeeper mistakenly opened the door and let her out, but the important thing is that she’s back with her family.
If anything, this story is an essential reminder for pet-friendly hotels to improve communication about pets in the rooms. Whether it’s a sign for guests to hang on the door or a policy requiring housekeepers to skip rooms with pets, details like these can help prevent accidents.
