The heartbreaking reality is that animal shelters are full of innocent, loving pets waiting patiently for their forever homes. Many of them, like Togo the Siberian Husky, even find themselves on the euthanasia list despite being young and perfectly healthy.
The poor pup had been returned to the shelter after less than a month of adoption, when his adopters realized they didn’t have what it took to raise a young Husky. Luckily for him, the dog parents who run @imbluethesiberiann’s TikTok account heard about his plight and rushed to bring him home. Now that the Moriarties are his foster parents, they’re sharing all kinds of heartwarming milestones, like Togo’s first time on the sofa.
What a precious boy! Togo was so grateful to be invited to sit on the couch with his foster dad that he could hardly contain himself. He said ‘thank you’ in every way he knew how, though I was surprised not to hear any Husky howling!
“He’s definitely got that energy,” commenter @jinxmadness admitted, “but also the look of feeling safe with you guys.” It’s always great news when a foster dog feels safe enough to show their true colors! The ultimate compliment is when they start getting into trouble, though it may not feel like a compliment at the time.

I can’t help but agree with @romacebooks4life when they wrote, “He is so sweet and genuinely happy to be there.” It’s hard not to fall in love with Togo’s joyful and personality, but his previous family somehow returned him to the shelter after less than a month together. Clearly, they didn’t have what it takes to handle that Husky energy!
Fostering & Rescuing Huskies
It doesn’t take a canine expert to understand that Huskies won’t thrive in a shelter environment. They need lots of exercise and space to run and play, as well as companionship and love. Even if they have everything they need in a foster or forever home, it can take weeks—even months—for a rescue Husky to feel fully adjusted.
As the Moriarty family shows through their videos with Togo, it can take a while for pup parents to adjust, too. Trying to keep up with a Siberian Husky’s energy can require special tools, hours of training, and lots of coffee!
As the mom to a 9-year-old Husky and Malamute mix, I couldn’t imagine my life without Jack’s chaos and conversations. It breaks my heart to see loving Huskies like Togo waiting for their perfect forever homes, though I also understand that not everyone is the right match for an energetic sled dog breed. Still, only time will tell whether Togo’s foster family will become his forever, family, too!
