Santa Lifts Golden Retriever’s Spirits During ‘Recovery’

Getting back on your feet after surgery is never fun, but it helps when a special guest drops by. Lady, the sweet girl from @ladyandtheblues, has been struggling lately after having punch biopsies on both her front paws. In a moving video, we see her resting with bandaged feet and a protective donut collar.

The Golden Retriever clearly missed her daily exercise and sunshine during this challenging week. However, things took a magical turn when Santa himself made a surprise appearance at their home to lift her spirits.

Santa visits Golden Retriever ‘in recovery’ from biopsies in video

The clip begins with a somber tone. We see Lady lounging on soft throws and mattresses spread across the living room floor. Bandages wrap her feet to keep the wounds clean. She even wears a donut collar to prevent any licking while she heals.

Her mom explained that keeping her entertained indoors remains a massive challenge. Without her usual runs, she seemed quite down. Scavenger hunts and lick mats only do so much to pass the time.

The mood changes all of a sudden when Lady hears a familiar sound at the door. She limps toward the window, and her tail starts to wag slowly. When the man in red finally enters, her excitement is impossible to hide. She is even wearing a festive Christmas sweater. And receives gentle neck scritches from her hero. Santa didn’t come empty-handed, either. He laid out a whole pile of gifts just for her on the mat. And Lady’s dog sister, Lily, also stood in line to make sure everyone got their fair share of pets.

The magic didn’t stop with just one visit. Another night, she even spotted him again through the window behind the tree. This time, her human sister, Olivia, joined the fun. Both “kids” received plenty of attention and treats from their visitor. Her owner noted that “dogs are just like kids” in their reactions. Watching her smile proves that happiness acts as the best medicine.
