Through the hustle and bustle of life, none of us is immune to feeling a little (or a lot!) exhausted every now and then—especially around the holidays or any event that takes everything you have.
We know when it’s time to recharge and do whatever’s necessary to get the job done. For some, that might mean staying awake and catching up on the final season of Stranger Things, and for others, like a Cockatoo named Furby, it means getting right to bed for much-needed beauty rest!

I can totally relate to what sweet Furby is going through! Life can be a lot, and catching enough z’s should be a priority. He gets it!
As the video explains, Furby needs about 14 hours of sleep this time of year. He goes to bed between 5:00 and 5:45 p.m. and wakes up around 7:30 a.m. each day, which is about what a toddler needs!
Considering Cockatoos have the intellect comparable to a toddler, that tracks, so you do you, bud! He even has the sweetest bedtime routine to help him wind down (also like toddlers) before his tuck-in.
As multiple resources suggest, birds like Furby need at least 10 to 12 hours of uninterrupted, dark sleep throughout the year and a little more during certain seasons like winter.

Furby Needs His Strength To Be Mom’s Best Medicine
It was just a few days ago that Furby and his family had to say goodbye to their senior cat, Poofy. Through Mom’s endless tears, this good boy sat by her side and held her hand like a real friend.
Since this Parrot species has some comprehension capabilities and understands what she’s telling him (to an extent), he gets right on top of giving her the compassion and empathy she needs.
Another thing to note is how Furby retreats to his perch as if he needed time to process the loss by himself, which is utterly heartbreaking.
If Furby says he’s tired and wants to go to bed, why fight it? If I’ve learned anything from my two children and five pets, it’s to never underestimate the level of chaos that comes when they don’t get enough sleep!
