Nap Proves We All Need Alone Time

We all need our rest, including one darling Dachshund!

In a hilarious clip from TikTok, our little friend receives a welfare check after spending four hours in bed, burrowed under the covers!

“Apparently she’s fine,” the pooch’s pet parent notes in the video. “Sorry to disturb, I guess.”

She may be fine, but it sure looks like this gal did not appreciate the interruption and quickly digs herself back into the covers. I can certainly relate, as this is exactly how my oldest greets me when I wake him up at noon on a Saturday!

Of course, Dachshunds burrow out of instinct. My son does so after spending all night playing video games!

Still, it’s so funny to see this gal’s reaction to getting uncovered. Her eyes roll as if she’s saying, “Please leave me alone! I need my beauty rest! You can check on me in a few hours to bring me dinner!”

Why Do Dachshunds Burrow?

Perhaps this gal was up all night gaming with my kid, but a Dachshund’s burrowing is actually more about instinct.

They have a history as skilled hunters, originally bred to track game into burrows. That burrowing remains in their DNA!

Of course, from an emotional perspective, Dachshunds enjoy the warm, safe feelings the covers provide. This cocoon surely eases anxiety and stress. Apparently, Linus from the Peanuts cartoon was onto something with his security blanket.

Regardless, fans can’t get enough of this little lady and had to share their takes!

“Sooo, you gonna put the blanket back down?” a viewer imagined this pup saying.

“How do they breathe?” asked another.

“They are burrow dogs,” answered a third. “I promise they will get up if they are uncomfy.”

“Mum, why did you wake me up? That was rude,” another imagines the Dachshund’s inner dialogue.

While not all pups would have the gumption to give their pet parents the stink eye, Dachshunds are known for their big personalities and stubbornness. So, you know, if you wake them up from a long nap, don’t expect them to be happy about it!
