Golden Retriever Is Totally Ecstatic for New Puppy Sibling in Sweet Video

Getting your dog a puppy almost guarantees your “only child” has a bestie to play and hang out with when you’re not available. As pack animals, they’re happier and more fulfilled with a dog bud around (or two… or three)—and they’re pretty cute frolicking together, too!

Beau, the Golden Retriever, was made for the role of “big brother,” and it was instantly clear when he met his new puppy sibling, Wylder. In the time since, the two have become one iconic pair who exceed “cuteness overload” levels!

Though it’s been a whole year since Wylder joined the fam, the video shows Beau’s first intro, and he couldn’t be more precious. Watch what he does when the joy is too much to take!

As you can see, Beau was more than ready to take on his brotherly duties! The throwback clip shows the elated Golden Retriever welcoming baby Wylder, his “half-brother and built-in best friend.” Mom and Dad drove eight hours to get the pup, so Beau’s sweet reaction is everything.

Not all dogs are so thrilled for a sibling, but Beau couldn’t contain his happiness as he retrieved a stuffie to show his new bro, then finally got the chance to smother him with kisses. This is 100% why the breed is so beloved!

While Beau is the picture of an A+ older sibling, there were, of course, a few growing pains. He had to learn to share his parents with another (which took some patience), but now, he’s an amazing big brother who’s more than happy when Wylder is taking up space.

Golden Retrievers Make the Best Siblings

You don’t need me to tell you all the ways Golden Retrievers are so great, but I will anyway! The breed is known for being friendly, affectionate, playful, loyal, and generally accepting of furry newcomers.

While each pup has their own likes and dislikes, Goldens are so easygoing and adaptable that they almost always make the perfect companion for a new puppy. If you’re ever in doubt, scroll through Beau and Wylder’s journey together, and they’ll convince you to go get your dog a puppy—STAT!
