If you’ve got a new puppy right now, or you’ve ever had a puppy at all, you know one thing for certain: they have beef with everyone. Why? No one really knows. They’re new to the world and like that they can cause problems.
One Dachshund puppy is certainly making the most of his young life at this time. He’s become an expert in using his free will for evil, and his sister cat is definitely feeling the struggle:
Bean Sprout (full name: Bean Sprouticus) is a 4-month-old Longhaired Mini Dachshund. He’s a winter puppy, which means that he’s had to learn how to potty outside in the cold, snowy weather. I’ve done it. It’s not easy at all.
Luckily, Bean Sprout’s mom understands that. She knows he doesn’t want to and probably isn’t safe going outside for too long in this cold weather, so she decided to just put down a puppy pad and call it a day.

Except he’s not even using it. Bean Sprout’s cat sister is sitting on it, and he can’t believe his eyes. This precious boy is immediately flipping out, trying to battle her for a spot on it.
Ultimately, though, she wins. She stays completely cool and collected throughout all of it, even when he gets closer to her. Unfortunately for him, I’m pretty sure that means sissy won this one.
Don’t worry, though. He also has other siblings to beef with:
He’s got a good point. Collars are very fun to chew on, especially if you’re a teething puppy.
How to Handle Potty Training In Winter
I got a winter puppy in 2023, and to be honest, I don’t think I would do it again. Potty training in the winter is way more difficult, but it’s not impossible.
If you’ve got a winter puppy you need to potty train, you should:
-
Be prepared for stubborn streaks.
-
Get them some winter gear (a jacket, booties).
-
Check the weather: if it’s dangerously cold or snowing, it might not be safe.
There is no shame in putting down puppy pads if it’s too cold to go outside. Just make sure they can actually get to them!
