Golden Retriever Stands Just Like a Human in Anticipation of Devouring Pup Cup

A Golden Retriever named Charlie has TikTok viewers cracking up as he stands upright like a human while devouring his pup cup. The adorable moment highlights not only his impressive strength and balance, but also his very good manners as he keeps his doggy elbows off the counter.

He’s also a very patient pup as he quietly awaits the delectable treat, knowing full well the heaven-in-a-cup he’s about to receive. At first, he attempts to rest his paws on the coffee shop’s counter, but when his mom tells him “no,” Charlie then sits like a good boy with drool dripping from his eager mouth.

As the barista brings the treat toward sweet Charlie, he rises into an upright pose, squatting on his hind legs, his front paws dangling in midair.

As one person says in the comments, “My boy was levitating 😆😂”

“Style 10 Form 10 Technique 10. Success💪” praises another.

And Charlie doesn’t break form until every last bit of whipped cream is licked clean. It’s an impressive display of balance and restraint that surely earned this pup more cups in the future.

Who Invented the Pup Cup?

According to his own website, Rocky Kanaka, a pet rescue advocate and founder of The Dog Bakery chain of shops, coined the term puppaccino in 2008. He started serving cups of whipped cream to dogs who visited his bakery with their humans, and the tradition became a sweet success. But the actual birth of the pup cup was likely thanks to a wider group of loyal coffee shop patrons who were keen to include their best furry buds in on their cafe gatherings.

The pup cup eventually became a canine culinary sensation with the support of Starbucks, which began serving the coveted cups of whipped cream on its secret, you’ve-gotta-specially-request-it, menu. Word spread, and dogs led by their caffeine-addicted parents everywhere began flocking to their local locations for pup cups, and the rest is TikTok history.

Now, everywhere from coffee shops to ice cream parlors and even fast food restaurants (puppy patty, anyone?) have their own off-menu doggy versions of sought-after human treats. But only those pet parents who aren’t afraid of a little chaos (and mess) opt to feed their pampered pups the sticky delicacy in their cars, straight from the drive-thru. This requires a very different kind of balancing act than that of Charlie’s impressive performance.
