Ragdoll Cat Stops Everything To Admire the ‘Other Cat’ in the Mirror

There are a million different reasons why cats make us smile and make our lives infinitely better. From the purrs and cuddles to the zoomies and learning new tricks, we collect the best lifelong memories thanks to our kitties, and new experiences, too.

One of my top perks of being a cat parent is seeing them experience new things. Their first time on a cat tree, their first real-food treat, and discovering things they’re seeing for the first time. And one video of a beautiful Ragdoll cat seeing herself in the mirror for the first time is an example of one of those incredible things we get to witness. Take a look!

TikTok user @princess.tully shared a video of Princess Tully, a stunning Ragdoll cat who is just going about her day until she discovers something she was very much not ready for. It appeared, to her, that a cat entered her room without her knowledge, and she had no idea where the kitty came from.

One thing Princess Tully is sure of after spotting the look-alike Ragdoll cat in her home is that she’s stunning. Whoever that cat is took Princess Tully’s breath away, made her stop in her tracks, and she had no idea it was just her reflection.

In the comments, people had a good time giggling at her reaction to seeing the unknown kitten in the mirror.

One person wrote, “This furbaby just stole our hearts.”

Another added, “That moment of ‘Is that… me?’ 😹 The confusion, the curiosity, the tiny pause like they’re about to have a full identity crisis. Cats in mirrors will never not be funny, and this one absolutely nailed it. Thanks for sharing such a cute little moment!”

Someone else added, “So beautiful,” and another echoed, “Beautiful.”

And another wrote, “We can’t get enough of your cuteness!”

Can Cats Recognize Themselves in Mirrors?

Princess Tully, spotting herself in the mirror, caught her attention for sure, but she didn’t seem to recognize that the cat she saw was just a reflection of herself. Is that how kitties see mirrors? Why don’t they recognize themselves?

Experts from Hill’s Pet Nutrition explain that cats like Princess Tully react the way they do because they don’t recognize themselves in that reflection. So she’s not stopping to admire herself. Instead, she’s reacting in a defensive way because she thinks that reflection really is another feline.
