Dachshund Boldly ‘Declines Bedtime’ Until He Gets Belly Rubs

Waffles, the Dachshund, demands belly rubs at bedtime. Or else!

“Goodnight,” Waffles’ pet mamma says in a hilarious TikTok clip as she takes her hand away from the Doxie’s midsection.

As soon as Mom’s hand disconnects from Waffles, this adorable pooch begins having a bit of a temper tantrum.

Waffles first lets out a gentle grunt to signal his displeasure. Then he begins to growl!

“Go to bed,” his mom continues. “Don’t be sassy!”

But Waffles IS sassy, continuing to growl until Mom’s hand is back on that belly!

What an attitude! We see who’s in charge here, LOL.

“When it’s officially bedtime, and you’re still being growled at,” Waffles’ pet mamma says in the clip. “Compliance remains optional.”

Fans couldn’t get enough of Waffles, and they had lots to share on TikTok.

“Waffles will go to bed exactly when you stop telling him to do it,” a viewer noted. “He’s his own master.”

“Waffles says he’s just matching attitudes,” another person added.

“Seems like someone has to have the last word!” a third chimed in.

This certainly brings back memories for me! When my kids were younger, they were known to throw a tantrum or two if they were not ready to hit the hay. I get it!

That said, I don’t recall any of them emitting menacing growls—phew! Tons of whining but no frightening howls.

Oh Waffles! You’re too much! Such a funny but moody little fella!

Are Dachshunds Moody?

Sure, Dachshunds can be a little moody! But it’s usually more about personality and breed traits than actual mood swings.

Originally bred to hunt badgers, Dachshunds are independent, strong-willed, and bold!

Still, I don’t think there’s any reason for Waffles to growl at his mamma. In fact, it looks like he’s got a super comfy setup that a lot of other dogs would envy!

I think the best solution for Mom here is to just keep rubbing that belly until Waffles falls asleep. I’m sure he looks like a little angel when he’s slumbering, but boy, is he devilish at bedtime!

Go to sleep, Waffles!
