It is usually pretty hilarious when tiny little dogs fancy themselves to be escape artists. Bonnie, the tiny Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, seems to fancy herself to be the canine Harry Houdini.
At least she seemed to have that ambition in this video. However, her would-be escape attempt through the backyard fence was foiled by a plastic straw that was nearly as big as her, LOL. As this video shows, this was as hilarious as it was adorable.
Apparently, this was not the first time Bonnie had attempted to fly the coop when her human mama let her out in the backyard. At the start of this video, Bonnie’s human mama put a vest on her with a big old plastic straw where the hook for the leash would usually go.
As soon as Bonnie was outside, she made a beeline for the fence and attempted to escape the confines of the backyard by sliding her tiny body between the rails in the fence. However, her first attempt was unsuccessful because the straw stopped her when she was only about halfway through.
She tried three more times at different spots in the fence, but the results were predictably and hilariously the same. Oh, Bonnie, will you ever learn, LOL? Actually, for the sake of Bonnie’s human mama, we hope that Bonnie doesn’t ever actually figure this one out, LOL.

Unsurprisingly, the Internet had quite a bit to say about this one. Instagram user herrokitty12 was flabbergasted at the thought of Bonnie wanting to run away from home when they wrote, “Girl, why do you wanna leave? It’s a scary world out there, LOL.”
While another pet parent, Instagram user kgriffiin, shared some helpful advice for humans who have to deal with fur babies who try sneaking through fences like Bonnie.
They wrote, “Highly recommend one of the inflatable cones that go around their neck like a neck pillow! We have a tiny Cavalier, and it has saved us so many times when visiting friends and family with this type of fence.”
Bonnie Has a Very Comfortable Life
As this other Instagram post shows, Bonnie leads a very good life with her human family. She has some pretty cool creature comforts, such as her own mini chair covered in a very snuggly-looking shaggy carpet.
We don’t think she actually wants to run away from home. Maybe she thinks she does, but maybe that’s just because she’s too young and inexperienced to realize that comfy chairs, such as this one, do not abound in the outside world.
But thankfully, her resourceful humans figured out how to keep her flight attempts in check. And hey, the resulting video is so cute and hilarious, who could ever complain?
