Senior Pomeranian-Yorkie Mix Totally Nails the Perfect ‘Moonwalk’

If you’ve never seen a dog “moonwalk” Michael Jackson style, today is your lucky day. If it’s been a minute since you cranked up Thriller, the Moonwalk was a dance move perfected by Jackson in which he glided backward across the floor while giving the appearance he was walking forward. A sweet, social media–savvy Pomeranian-Yorkie mix pup named Milo is putting his own spin, pun intended, on the moonwalk and dancing his way into the hearts of viewers who can’t get enough of this adorable furball. In all honesty, neither can we.

In a video captioned “He’s got some moves,” the Pomeranian-Yorkie mix can be seen walking across his human’s wood floors when he comes to an open doorway leading into another room. Rather than bounding into the room facing forward, Milo turns on his heels and backs into the doorway before turning around and carrying on with his completely adorable day.

The caption couldn’t be more apt. Milo does indeed have skills on the dance floor.

“Yess! You’ve got moves, Milo!!!” gushed one fan. Another added, “so cuteee.”

Why Do Dogs Walk Backwards?

Milo’s moves aren’t completely out of left field. There are actually several reasons why dogs walk backward or back into a space. One common reason a dog may walk backward is physical discomfort or a neurological issue. Sometimes, a dog walks backward out of habit. Likewise, a pup walking in reverse could be an early sign of canine cognitive decline.

There’s also another possible explanation: caution. Sometimes, a dog’s moonwalk can be attributed to something as simple as the pup perceiving the surface ahead as slippery and is playing it safe.

We won’t speculate on Milo’s health or age, but this cute canine might simply be trying not to slip on his home’s gorgeous, and likely slick, wood floors. In this case, Milo may be opting to moonwalk rather than unexpectedly ice skate across hardwood.

Either way, Milo’s got moves, and we can’t wait to see more from this dancing dog.
