There might be nothing as sweet as watching two pet siblings meet for the first time. Whether it’s a pair of pups, cats, or a mix of puppies and kittens, pet siblings meeting each other is a celebration worthy of love. On the same note, watching pets meet their new human siblings is also another emotional and adorable moment to witness. However, a new pairing we are absolutely obsessed with? A Chiweenie meeting their new sibling: a Tortoise.
Skippy, a Chihuahua and dachshund crossbreed, recently encapsulated our enthusiasm as he lovingly got to meet his new sibling, Tilly the tortoise. Representing all of us, when we also saw Tilly, Skippy’s enthusiastic welcoming was far the cutest meeting we’ve seen between siblings.

Viewers React to Skippy and Tilly’s Adorable First Meeting
In a moment that one can only relate to, Skippy and Tilly’s human showcased the first meeting between the enthusiastic Chiweenie and the slow-paced Tortoise. True to a puppy, Skippy welcomed Tilly home with full-body wiggles that could power a home for a year. After sniffing and more wiggles, Skippy moved on to loving head pats and even more wiggles.
Skippy then officially welcomed Tilly home with the gift of a stick—and more wiggles. The relationship was then confirmed with plenty of butterfly kisses from Skippy and tail wags. While Tilly couldn’t really react in time throughout any of the meetings, he did get plenty of chin scratches from his human.

While Skippy and Tilly clearly have opposite personalities, you can’t avoid smiling from ear to ear during the entire moment. One viewer mentioned, “AWWW the tortoise is a cutie! And look at his happy little friend.”
Another person added, “My dog loved turtles. He got to meet a tortoise at a park one day. People brought their tortoise to the park. I think the tortoise enjoyed my dog as much as my dog enjoyed the tortoise. They hung out for a little bit. He also interacted with several other turtles. He would get so excited whenever he saw them, but would be extra gentle whenever he got close to them.”
Although the pairing of dogs and tortoises seems to be a rare occurrence, it’s certainly up there with one of the most adorable and fun pet combinations we’ve seen.
