Some dogs have the kind of fur that requires a bit of upkeep. Whether it grows too fast, gets matted if left unkempt, or it’s a coiled, curly coif that looks best with a trim, it’s clear pups are just like us—they feel much more confident and cool after a grooming makeover.

For a Poodle mix like Luna, that means coming out of an ordinary shampoo sesh looking like a wet rodent of some sort before the blow dry transforms her into the fluffiest, cloud-like lamb with a pirate’s beard!

Luna, who’s known around the globe as “Mulch,” is a girl’s girl who may not love the bath part, but once she’s got that salon-fresh feeling, there’s no stopping her! Between her gigantic head and rotund body, those itty-bitty ears and stick-like legs, I can’t possibly choose my favorite thing about this sassy pup.

Some compare the Poodle mix to a Q-tip, and others say she’s more like the tiniest rain cloud covered in lint, but I say she’s just the cutest gal ever! This cut suits her, making my heart pitter-patter in ways I can’t explain, and based on her hundreds of thousands of social media fans, they get it.

Why Luna’s Haircut Is Special

Though Luna has a look all her own, her haircut happens to be one any pet parent can request by name: the Japanese Lamb cut. This grooming style gives pups that plushie, “lamb-like” look by trimming the torso short, rounding the muzzle and ears, and usually shaping the legs to look softer like tree trunks.

You may drop your dog off at the groomer for a makeover, but you’ll pick up an adorably fluffy lamb. To me, that’s a win/win in every scenario! This particular cut is usually seen on small, fluffy breeds like Shih-Tzus, Bichon Frises, Maltese, and of course, Poodles. This is because of their dense, curly hair that holds shape, but it does require upkeep to prevent matting.

Luna is the best “spokespupper” for the cut, giving us views of all angles. Next time your dog is due for a trim, please ask for this, and you’ll be blessed with the same level of cuteness as Luna gives us all every day!
