Heartbroken Orange Cat Finds Hope and Love After His Parent’s Deportation Tears Them Apart

A couple of cat parents in Utah walked into a pet adoption event with no idea what to expect, but hours later, they walked away with a new best friend and the most bittersweet adoption story. George is a handsome and fluffy orange cat who drew his new parents in with his heartbroken stare, and even though he’s just as grateful to have found his new parents (and new cat siblings Salt, Pepper, and Honey), he’s still grieving the loss of his first family.

George was tragically left to fend for himself after his first parent was deported by ICE, but his heroic neighbor saved him and brought him to a local rescue. He even left his phone number with the rescue so he could check up on his pal once he was adopted! It’s safe to say that the rescue cat is surrounded by love now that he’s home with his new family, but he still has a lot of healing left to do.

Poor George! His huge eyes show just how lost he feels, but it is comforting to know he’s in good hands. Even though I could hardly stand to see his heartbroken look, watching him accept love brought a smile to my face.

“I hope his former parent sees this and has some sort of peace knowing George is ok,” @saltyopinion commented. That would be incredible! They deserve at least a little bit of peace despite everything they’ve gone through recently.

The video’s comment section is flooded with support for the grieving cat and all of his parents, but one viewer even had an idea that could make their wish to locate his first parent a reality. In fact, thousands of pet parents would benefit from something like this!

She wrote, “Someone should make a website for all the pets of people kidnapped by ICE so people can see if their babies are ok once they are in a place to check.” Someone should get started on this site immediately!

Helping George Find Home

Despite how heartbroken he is, George couldn’t be sweeter to his new parents and feline siblings. After just a few days at home, he’s already starting to come out of his shell.

Good boy, George! He’s such a brave boy for introducing himself to all his siblings, but his Ragdoll cat sister, Salt, became his new best friend. Even when the rescue kitty prefers to hide and keep to himself, his sister isn’t far away. Now that’s love!

George’s new family still hopes to get in touch with his first parent, and they’ll keep fans updated on their journey regardless of what happens next. I know I’m not the only one looking forward to watching George heal.
