The day you get a new puppy is always full of love, happiness, and surprises for both you and your new furry friend. On the first day, your new best friend might seem a little reserved and quiet while they begin to decompress and settle into their new home. This process of getting acquainted with their new family might take a few weeks or months, depending on the dog. While it’s not abnormal to see your new pup be a little shy in the beginning, they’ll eventually warm up, and you’ll see their personality start to arise.
However, this baby Australian shepherd completely threw all of that out of the window in less than a week. While it’s a good sign that they got comfortable quickly, let’s just say her new parents definitely weren’t expecting such a loud personality so quickly.

Aussie Puppy Gets Comfy Real Quick
If you took a look at Kammie, a sweet Australian shepherd, new to her parents’ home on the first day, you would think you were dealing with a sweet and quiet pup. While Australian Shepherds are notoriously very active dogs, Kammie didn’t have an ounce of that on her first drive home. Snuggled inside of her new dad’s shirt, Kammie seemed to be the sweetest and most polite puppy ever. That was until she got home.

Unfortunately for Kammie’s new adoptive parents, the shyness lasted only about a week. As Kammie quickly learned her way around her two golden retriever brothers, her personality truly started to shine. From barking nonstop at her new brothers to poking and nudging them while they slept, Kammie went from lowkey to high nonstop energy. Between taunting her two brothers back and forth, the new Australian shepherd needed no adjustment period.
For fellow pet parents in the comment section, this was far from a surprise. “I will never forget bringing my Aussie mix home and the TALKING,” added one user. “She still TALKS. Not nonstop barking, but like full-on just conversations. I’m so obsessed.”
A second Aussie parent commented, “Aussies are a whole other kind of dog….I love mine with all my heart, let’s just say she can be challenging at times.” While one pet parent simply added, “They are fur missiles.” We certainly can’t argue with that description!
