German Shepherd Mix Gnaws on a Hanger With Absolutely No Thoughts

There are dogs who are smart, focused, and locked in. And then there are dogs who are… doing whatever this is. This video falls firmly into the second category, and honestly, it is impossible to look away once you see it. I think a lot of us dog parents can safely say our pups are little weirdos, and the one you’re about to meet is no exception.

Sometimes, just like humans, our dogs can get bored, and when they get bored, welp, they find weird ways to amuse themselves.

Shared by @themrmayor on TikTok, we see a video of a German Shepherd mix just fully lounging, casually chewing on a blue plastic hanger like it’s the most normal enrichment activity in the world. The hanger is somehow across his face, and his vibe is completely unbothered, and there is not a single thought happening behind those very beautiful eyes.

And that is the other thing. This dog is stunning. Pale gray eyes, dramatic eyeliner, the kind of face that makes no sense, paired with this level of nonsense behavior.

People in the comments were completely distracted by how good-looking he is, which feels fair. I mean, this dog may be a total weirdo with his hanger snack, but he is absolutely gorgeous. One person asked, “Why is your dog handsome?” while another said, “Why do I love his eyeliner so much? Drop tutorial, please,” which… same question, honestly.

Others leaned into the chaos of the moment, with comments like, “He’s just hangin’,” and “He’s exactly where he wants to be,” which feel spiritually accurate. Someone else wrote, “That dog is probably the prettiest dog I’ve ever seen in my life,” followed immediately by people losing it over his “smoky eyes.”

And then there were the people who understood the energy completely. “Lol, that’s too cute, he’s like WTF you looking at!?!” and “He’s like ‘Mom look at this,’” which is exactly the vibe. Not a care in the world. Just existing. With a hanger.

Also, quick aside, Kingston, our Pomeranian, would absolutely be terrified of the hanger, get it stuck, panic, and then somehow blame me, so this level of calm chaos feels almost aspirational.

Why Dogs Need Jobs

Dogs, especially breeds like German Shepherds and their mixes, are incredibly intelligent and were originally bred to work. That means they are wired to have a purpose, whether that is herding, guarding, problem-solving, or just staying mentally engaged throughout the day.

When they don’t have enough to do, they will find something. And sometimes that “something” is… a hanger. Or your shoes. Or a very important object you did not realize was about to become a toy. These pooches need jobs to keep them busy and make them exhausted, because a tired dog is a well-behaved dog.

That is why enrichment is so important for these breeds. Regular exercise helps burn off physical energy, but mental stimulation matters just as much. Puzzle feeders, training games, scent work, and even simple play sessions can make a huge difference in keeping them balanced.

A bored working breed is a creative working breed, and while that can be funny to watch, it is usually a sign they need a little more structure and engagement in their days.
