Sometimes life throws us a curveball. That curveball can manifest itself in all kinds of ways. As far as relationships go, it can manifest itself in the form of a totally unexpected relationship.
It is always particularly interesting to see these relationships in the form of found family. Especially as far as animals are concerned. Because when animals who are not directly related to each other form a special bond and become each other’s found family, the result is always total cuteness overload.
That’s what happened in this video below. Ozzy, the emu, was unfortunately rejected by his mate and never got to see his babies hatch. But the kindhearted humans who look after Ozzy recently took home some tiny baby emus in need. Ozzy became so excited when they arrived on the farm that he started building nests for them. Now, it appears that he has found his calling as a surrogate dad.
According to this video, Ozzy has done a tremendous job of making sure that these babies are dry, warm, and safe. In this footage, you can see how he is never far from them and always keeps a watchful eye on them to make sure they are safe.

He even sleeps nearby so that he doesn’t miss anything. And we totally understand why Ozzie wants to be near them, because those babies are just so darn cute and precious!

Viewers on social media had a lot to say about Ozzy and the way that he was taking care of these precious baby chicks. Many users said of Ozzy, “He’s not a stepdad, he’s a dad that stepped up.”
While other social media users stated that this video is proof that Ozzy’s mate is totally missing out: “I’m sorry, but she missed out because he’s an awesome Emu. He’s going to be a great dad one day.”
Overall, many people on social media were moved by Ozzy’s story, with many of them remarking that they hope he gets to have some babies of his own one day: “How precious. I hope he’s able to hatch out his own babies one day. He’d make a great father.”
