This Woman’s Narration of What ‘Sharing’ Is Like With Her Cat Is Just Too Funny—and Accurate

Cats are truly their own beings. We live to serve them, but some are more generous than others—and let us use our own things.

Sir George the Ragdoll is one of those kind kittens, and his mom shared a video showcasing just how selfless he can be with her bedtime pillow.

“The one thing I never expected to need when I brought George home was a long pillow,” Sir George’s mom shares in the voice-over, “and that’s because George is a generous guy, really into the concept of sharing.”

“Although he has four pillows he could choose from, he graciously chooses to share my pillow with me every night,” his mom continues, “and I shouldn’t say this—I’m aware I could be sent to jail for even thinking it—but sometimes, I need a little space, just enough so that his tuna breath tongue can’t reach my face for a surprise microdermabrasion session at 2 a.m.”

The sassy, sarcastic voice-over is perfectly paired with video clips of Sir George looking oh-so-cuddly and cute, crawling right up to the camera on said long pillow, giving us a real POV of what it’s like to “share” a pillow with his highness every night.

The video is hysterical and adorable, because anyone with a cuddly kitten at home knows how sweet yet slightly uncomfortable it can be to make bedfellows with a furry friend.

“I’ve tried moving my head to a different pillow, but again, George knows sharing is caring, so he just moves with me,” his mom continues in the video. “Now we have long pillows—king sized to be specific, because George is a king, and he deserves a little space, too.”

George is far from the only cat like this.

“George totally understands personal space,” one commenter says. “He knows you like your personal space; it’s just he likes your personal space, as well.”

“My boy lays across my throat every night,” another says. “He’s so concerned about my health he wants to keep my neck warm and monitor my breathing. So thoughtful.”

“One of my cats sleeps either on my neck or my face, making sure all breathing is filtered through his fur,” jokes another. “He doesn’t want me catching any airborne diseases. How thoughtful of him.”

Why Do Cats Sleep on Your Pillow?

So why do Sir George and other cats need to get so close to your face while you try to sleep?

First of all, cats are attracted to your body heat. You’re a really warm surface to curl up on, of course! Plus, being so close to you brings a sense of safety and security. You’re their favorite person. You protect them, and they protect you.

Your pillow also smells strongly of you, which means it serves as a comfort item for your cat, helping regulate anxiety and reduce stress. Sitting on your pillow also allows your cat to share their own scent with yours, marking the space—and you—as their beloved territory.

If you’ve got a generous cat at home who wants to share your pillow with you, try a king-sized pillow to ensure everyone has enough space, because as Sir George knows, sharing is caring!
