It’s no secret that most pets have a favorite human, and while they can develop strong bonds with others, it’s their favorite person that they always want to be with. On the flip side of that coin, there’s usually a person that they’re not crazy about, also known as the spare human.
Benny the Golden Retriever’s favorite person is definitely his mom, and his poor dad is the spare. Mom posted a video of what happened recently when Benny woke up and realized he was going to be stuck with the spare all day. The look on his face says it all!
In the caption, Benny’s mom shared what he was probably thinking: “Guess I’ll go back to bed.” The look on his face was full of disappointment, and we couldn’t stop laughing about it!

Funny Reactions to Benny’s Disappointment with the Spare Human
Everybody laughed as Benny came to the realization that he was stuck with the spare. @Doug Macher shared, “I’ve NEVER seen such disappointment.” Another commenter added, “And betrayal.”
@Vita Coco came to a realization, too: “I fear I am the spare.” @Up Dog was spot on with their reply, “If you think you are, then you most certainly are…”
Another commenter said, “We call ours ‘the backup’,” and we laughed when @Eddie Page added, “My dog at least fakes loving me till my wife walks in the door.” @Noodles agreed, “Only love can hurt like this.” @See_Tracey_Craft knows the feeling, too: “I am absolutely the spare human, and I feel this in my soul.”
@MrTimothyTimes joked, “Just because I accept the situation, does not mean I accept you. – Dogorillius Maximus”.
“Ruined his whole day,” said @dory. @Ramon Gonzalez cautioned, “Do NOT miss any of his feeding or nap times, please…. LOL!”
We know Benny isn’t much of a fan of the mornings to begin with, but we’re not sure his mood is going to improve, even if the spare human tries to win him over with treats, snuggles, and a walk!
