All dogs are cute; some are goofy, and others look like they’ve lived more than 100 lives in the span of ours. With their expressive faces and shaggy coats, some breeds have a way of looking almost human in the eyes, with a full old-man aura about them in the best ways possible.

That’s the vibe we get in this video, where a rare dog is serving serious “wise old fisherman” energy. It’s probably not his intention or what he’s going for, but it absolutely stands out like that. Take a look at this pup!

TikTok user @kraken.otterhound shared a video of a stunning dog named Kraken, who, in the best way, looks like an old human fisherman playing outside with his older sister. As he’s running out, Kraken’s older sister “sneak attacks” him, and it’s the cutest thing.

If you’re looking at Kraken and curious about what breed he is, what makes those cute features, like the human-like eyes and interesting coat texture, it’s because he’s an Otterhound, a rare breed we don’t see a lot of.

It turns out that the Otterhound is known as “one of the rarest breeds in the world,” and that has nothing to do with how cute this breed is. Watching Kraken have the best time with his sister, running and jumping, he looks like he has the most fun personality, and we love that!

Kraken’s sister isn’t an Otterhound like he is; instead, she’s a Northern Inuit, which, surprisingly, is also a rare breed usually found only in the United Kingdom. She more closely resembles a German ShepherdSiberian Husky mix. But another fun fact about the Northern Inuit is that they’re the breed used to portray the Dire Wolves in Game of Thrones.

Interesting Facts About the Otterhound

Kraken is such a beautiful dog, and we can definitely see his silly personality shine in this video, too, which is pretty common for this breed.

The American Kennel Club describes the Otterhound as being “even-tempered, amiable, and boisterous,” and they can grow to weigh up to 115 pounds, so they’re big pups. They’re very affectionate, though, landing at the top of the scale and are in the middle for being good with kids and other dogs.

These used to be significantly more common when hunting otters was a thing way back in medieval England, when they were a popular breed for hunting. They’re great swimmers and have all the features that make swimming easy for them, including a dense coat and webbed feet.

We think Kraken is a really stunning dog, and even though his breed’s not that popular, being one of the rarest dog breeds is cool, too, and he’s an unforgettable one.
