If you’ve ever had a cat, you’re aware of the funny noises that come out of them when they’re feeling a little feisty. They have a wide chatter, trill, purr, and yowl vocabulary, and they’re not afraid to use it!
It’s especially true in large cat breeds, which is where Barny, the Maine Coon, comes in. This funny feline’s special talents include showing off his stunning good looks and doing his best puppy impersonation. If you close your eyes, you’ll think he is actually a dog!
As one fan commented, Barny is “so cute when he’s angry!” The “no touch” chatter is big in the cat world, but Barny’s puppy sound is a new one! Many wondered if he was raised by dogs, but the answer is a resounding no; however, his impression is still spot-on.

Being the majestic Maine Coon he is, Barny doesn’t have to do much of anything except exist, and we’re all obsessed. His bio says he’s a Maine Coon and Sapphire Ragdoll mix, which basically means he’s the hostess with the mostest and sparkling emerald eyes to boot.
It’s his meek and mild vocalizations that take him over the top from a basic kitty to so very extra (in the best way possible). They seem to be more regular during playtime.
Maine Coons Share These Traits With Dogs
Despite being a cat (obviously), Barny and others in his breed have a lot of things in common with pups. Maine Coons are beloved for their social, docile, and easygoing temperaments, which allow them to get along with just about anyone—specifically dogs!
Combined with a quiet confidence, curiosity about all things water and faucets, and a love of playing a game of fetch, Maine Coons really are a dog’s best friend. It doesn’t hurt that this sweet fella has the added genetics of Ragdoll in his blood, because they’re equally as cool, calm, and collected in the presence of other pets.
It sounds like Barny hit the DNA lottery! He may not actually be a puppy, but should one ever join the family, he’d fit right in, showing off his identical dog sounds and adorable trills!
