Some dog breeds are considered more sedentary than others. Bulldogs, Pugs, and Shih-Tzus are a few examples of canines that would rather cuddle on the couch than run around the yard. Breeds like Labradors, Border Collies, Golden Retrievers, and Huskies love wide open spaces to burn off lots of energy.
Gus the Golden Retriever was used to apartment living and just got a big surprise with a lot more space.
In the TikTok from @arcshop96, Gus sat in the car and had no idea what he was about to see. His mom opened the car door and led him inside their new house. The video explained why this was such a monumental moment.
“Taking our ‘apartment dog’ to his first house with a yard,” the onscreen text explained.
Gus explored his new home with a smile on his face and a spring in his step. He pranced through the wide open space of the living room as the sunlight poured in. The joy on his face perfectly expressed how he felt about his new home.
“Do you like it?” his mom asked the precious pooch. “This is Gus’s house! And you’re gonna have a yard for the first time.”
Gus looked out the sliding glass doors and saw a sprawling backyard with beautiful grass. He was probably picturing himself running through it at top speed with nothing holding him back.
Gus Adjusted Very Quickly
Apparently, the gorgeous Golden had to go to his grandparents’ to get his yard fix, so his mom was overjoyed that she could finally give him one of his own. Gus has had no problem getting acclimated to his new digs.

“Our last home didn’t have a yard, and he has always loved lying in the grass at our parents’,” the caption explained. “We thought he would be nervous moving to a new place, but he has been so at home since day one!”
The video concluded with Gus running up the stairs, with one follower guessing his objective: “Gussie says I get the big bedroom with bathtub.”
Gus is probably going to be a true homebody from now on.
